Concussion Management

Physiotherapy treatments can be used to assess and help improve issues with balance and coordination, along with a variety of symptoms that can occur after a concussion, including headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and neck pain. Our physiotherapists can also help by providing education on how to manage symptoms going forward to help you return to your pre-injury level of activity.

Daniel Muise holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from St. Francis Xavier University and a Master of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University. Daniel furthered his Orthopaedic education by completing the Diploma in Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. He completed his intermediate testing in 2021 and Advanced testing in 2022 giving him the Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) accreditation. Daniel has also completed training in functional Dry needling, GLA:D and is currently taking courses to obtaining the ability to order diagnostic imaging.

Following the completion of his Master’s degree, Daniel began his career practicing at a clinic in downtown Halifax. Here he developed his skills as a physiotherapist treating a wide variety of orthopaedic issues while receiving mentorship from some of the best-known physiotherapists not only in Halifax, but across Canada. The clinic was well known among the Halifax running community and Daniel developed a passion for treating runners of all levels - from novice to elite.  Daniel and his wife had their first child in 2023 and returned home to PEI to begin this next chapter closer to family.  It was at this time that Daniel decided to join the Reactive Health Team.

Daniel has an interest in concussions and during his time at STFX he conducted and published research on head impacts in Canadian University Football, “Frequency and Magnitude of Head Accelerations in a Canadian Interuniversity Sport Football Team’s Training Camp and Season” (Muise, 2016). This interest led to a six-week work term during his physiotherapy degree at  a clinic in London, Ontario that specialized in neurological physiotherapy including concussions and head injuries.

Daniel believes that developing a good working relationship with his patients and educating them on their issues gives them the knowledge and understanding needed, so they can actively participate in developing their individualized evidence-based treatment plan. Treatment plans will vary from person to person but will often include various forms of  manual therapy, soft tissue work, therapeutic exercise, continued education, and other techniques that may be specific to their issues to help individuals reach their physiotherapy goals.

In his spare time Daniel likes to spend time with his family and friends, he enjoys exercising, playing hockey and golf, and all things outdoors (fly-fishing,  hunting, camping, canoeing).
